During the 1960's
joint Mongolian and Soviet explorers found the coal pit near the Sharyn gol and
in 1961 first fundament of
the miners village was set up. Since 1962, with
Soviet technics and equipments mining construction was completed and on June
6th 1965 extracted annually 1.1 ton of coal and dag 5.0 million square m of soil. In 1979,
by the People's Great Khural it was named as Sharyn Gol city and in 1994 renamed as Sharyn Gol soum.
Sharyn Gol soum
locates on 920 m above sea level in
the front of Darkhan Mountain the branch of Khentii Mountain Range and it has 16060 hectares of land and 8000 population. About 900 families live in modern apartments and over 200 families live in countryside or village
herding 57000 domestic animals.
This soum connects to Darkhan with 70 km
of highway, 75 km of railway and has a
sub station of 110/6 k wt, 51 km long electric line connected through
Darkhan and Sharyn gol and has also modern communication equipments and highly
developed infrastructure. The soum has "Sharyn gol" company, 10 plants of gold mining,"Dulaan Sharyn
Gol" Co. ltd, hospital with 45 beds,
sanatorium with 25 beds, family
hospitals, 2 high schools of 9 to 11 years
with 2200 students, 3 kindergartens of 350 kids, cultural and sport center, Emergency Rescue Unit, Police
Station, over 100 private entities run
business in trade and restaurants.
